Return to play!

We are very pleased that team training within Softball Ulster has recommenced (from Saturday 11th July). The Softball Ulster council has met with team captains and agreed a condensed season format to take place over August – September.

Softball Ireland have released a COVID-19 Symptom Screening & Contact Tracing Web App and a Return To Play Protocol to ensure appropriate safety measures are taken to safeguard all participants. All Softball Ireland players will be required to complete the Web App in advance of training/games with effect from July 20, 2020.

2020 Season Update

With the continued uncertainty around Covid-19, we wanted to provide you with an update on plans for the 2020 Softball Ulster season.

While we are unsure when the league will commence, we are committed that it should still go ahead in one form or another – when the public health situation allows.

As Competitions Officer, I am working with my Council colleagues to model out different league variations that we can implement in the event of a shortened season. The season will only go ahead when both Softball Ireland reinstate training and NI/UK government allow for mass gatherings to resume.

With all this in mind, team registration remains open to 24/4/2020. We will endeavour to keep you up-to-date throughout the Covid-19 outbreak.

Regards,

Glenn McKnight – Competitions Officer

COVID – 19 Advice

In line with the advice issued by Softball Ireland (SI) in relation to COVID-19, Softball Ulster recommend that all clubs within the Ulster region should suspend training sessions, with immediate effect until further notice. All competitive events are also postponed for the foreseeable future.

We recognise that this decision will result in disappointment and inconvenience, but the health and wellbeing of the softball community is utmost in our minds at this time.

Clubs should also be aware that given SI’s decision, any training and competitive events occurring during this period will not be covered by insurance.
