About Softball Ulster

Softball Ulster is the local governing body for softball in the Ulster region. We are part of Softball Ireland along with Softball Leinster.

Softball Ulster promotes a competitive league of adult co-ed slow-pitch softball. All teams are a mixture of male and female, with a wide range of social and ethnic backgrounds, sexualities and ability spread out amongst the six teams in the league. Games are played on Sunday afternoons and Monday evening at the teams’ respective home grounds.

Established in 2007 with the founding club, Belfast Softball Club, the Ulster league has grown since then. We now currently have six teams, as of April 2017.  Our current competitive teams are:

  • Bangor Bucs
  • Belfast Angels
  • Belfast Brawlers (Belfast Softball Club)
  • Belfast Cubs
  • Belfast Sliders
  • Smokin’ Aces (Belfast Softball Club)

In 2013, Belfast Hosted the World Police and Fire Games. This allowed Belfast to hold an international tournament of Softball over four days. Teams from Canada and USA competed in co-ed, male and female sections. Many members of Softball Ulster volunteered to support the running of the event, which was haled as a success by the organisers. This event also highlighted Softball to wider audience in the Ulster regions and allowed us to attract new players to the sport.
