The plate trophy, awarded to the fifth-place finisher at IOST, remained in Ulster after the 2022 edition of IOST, as the Belfast Cubs won a four-team playoff at the tournament in Cork.
Three Softball Ulster clubs – the Cubs, the Belfast Sliders, and Belfast Softball Club, which entered two teams – entered the tournament, which was played on 13-14 August at Munster Technological Institue. The Sliders and one of BSC’s teams also reached the playoff for the plate, while the other BSC team won the wooden spoon, awarded to the tournament’s ninth-place team.
